A paid hotspot combines a customer-facing offer with network access rules. The operator must define what a pass buys, how payment is confirmed and how the router enforces the resulting entitlement. Clear package rules reduce arguments at renewal or expiry.

Design the offer before the login page

Write the amount, duration, speed and supported limits in language a customer can understand. Explain whether a pass can be used on more than one device at the same time. Avoid selling a data quota unless it is enforced by the access method you actually deploy.

Match the software to the access path

LinkDesk includes local Hotspot vouchers and persistent subscriber workflows. Current local voucher plans can use supported data and simultaneous-login limits. These should not be described as universal limits across all PPPoE and RADIUS arrangements.

• Demonstrate one customer joining, buying and receiving access.
• Check how the chosen package ends and how a customer buys again.
• Give staff a procedure for a successful payment followed by failed access.

Plan for the customer’s phone

A login popup is only one part of the experience. Test with the actual phone types, browser behaviour and access points expected at the site. A correct billing record cannot compensate for weak coverage or a missing route to the required checkout service.

Measure the pilot separately from sales

Record whether payment, authentication, enforcement and expiry all work. Then examine whether customers understand the offer and can find help. Software correctness and customer usability are different questions, and both matter before opening the hotspot to a larger audience.
