WayaDesk / Hotspot billing
Package pricing depends on the operator’s costs and local demand. Billing software can administer a price, but it cannot guarantee that customers will buy enough passes to cover bandwidth, power, rent, equipment and support.
List the costs behind the offer
Separate recurring costs from equipment purchases and installation work. Include payment and messaging charges where applicable. Estimate the staff time needed for sales and support. A pass that looks profitable before those costs may produce little contribution once real operations are included.
Test understandable choices
Start with a small set of clearly differentiated offers rather than many almost identical passes. Explain duration, speed and supported limits. An operator should be able to tell a customer why a weekly offer differs from a daily offer without relying on confusing promotional language.
- Record how many paying purchases each package actually receives.
- Track support incidents and refunds alongside sales.
- Review busy-period service quality before increasing demand through discounts.
Use a labelled planning example
For illustration, twenty purchases at KSh 50 produce KSh 1,000 in gross sales. That figure is not profit: the costs of providing those purchases still need to be deducted. Replace the example with your own observed volumes and costs before setting a target.
Keep the package rules stable
When changing a future price or allowance, preserve the record of what existing customers already purchased. Communicate changes before the next purchase. A commercial change should not unexpectedly rewrite paid entitlement or disguise a capacity problem that needs a technical solution.
Frequently asked questions
Can software tell me a guaranteed profitable price?
No. Use observed demand, service costs and support effort to evaluate the offer.
Should I offer many plans at launch?
A small set of clear choices is easier to test and explain. Add complexity only when actual customer needs justify it.
Choose your software licence
One installation, a clear router allowance, and perpetual use of the purchased version. Setup assistance, hosting and external services are separate.
