Designing Daily Wi-Fi Passes Customers Understand

WayaDesk / Hotspot billing

A “day pass” can mean a calendar day, a fixed period from purchase or another configured rule. Customers should not have to discover the meaning by losing access earlier than expected. Define the rule before choosing the package name.

Describe duration precisely

Use the duration behaviour supported by the plan you configure, and show its start and expiry clearly. Do not describe a fixed number of minutes as midnight-based access unless that is actually how the deployment behaves. The label, receipt and support explanation should tell the same story.

Decide what else the pass includes

Speed, concurrent logins and any supported data cap affect the value of the offer. A time allowance alone does not explain whether the customer can share access or use a large amount of traffic. Choose limits that can be demonstrated on your local Hotspot workflow.

  • Record the exact start rule and expiry boundary.
  • Check a purchase made late in the evening.
  • Confirm what happens when the same customer buys another pass.

Use an example during onboarding

Take a customer who purchases near closing time. Show the expiry they will actually receive rather than saying only “valid for one day”. This reveals whether your package wording and configured time handling agree.

Keep pricing separate from capacity

A low-priced pass may attract customers, but it does not increase upstream bandwidth or access-point capacity. Test busy-period performance and calculate operating costs independently. The software helps administer the offer; it does not guarantee demand or profitable traffic patterns.

Frequently asked questions

Should every day pass expire at midnight?

Only if that is the actual configured policy. A fixed-duration pass needs wording that describes its real validity.

Can I hide important limits until after payment?

Show the relevant duration, speed and supported usage restrictions before the customer buys.

Choose your software licence

One installation, a clear router allowance, and perpetual use of the purchased version. Setup assistance, hosting and external services are separate.
