WayaDesk / Operations and recovery
Billing records are part of the service. Losing the data can affect entitlement, payment reconciliation and staff access even if the router itself still works. A backup plan should protect the information and make restoration possible.
Know what is included
LinkDesk’s full backup contains the database, settings, encryption key, administrator credentials and installed licence. Staff credentials are stored in the database. Program files and vendor trust keys are separate installation inputs, so keep the prepared software package available as well.
Protect the recovery secret
The backup process uses a passphrase, with the documented minimum length of sixteen characters. Keep a recovery copy away from the host that stores the data. An encrypted file is not useful if the only copy of its passphrase is lost with the original computer.
- Store a backup outside the application data directory.
- Use an additional destination that survives loss of the original disk.
- Check the outcome and practise restoration before relying on the schedule.
Understand automatic scheduling
An unattended backup requires the application to access its configured destination and stored settings. Review failures rather than assuming the existence of a schedule proves success. Retention should remove only the intended old backups, not unrelated business files.
Test usefulness, not just file existence
Inspect the archive and carry out a controlled restore. Confirm that the recovered records can be read and reconciled with later merchant activity. A file with a recent date is encouraging, but recoverability is the result the business actually needs.
Frequently asked questions
Does one backup on the same disk protect against disk failure?
No. Keep a suitable copy outside the original disk’s failure boundary.
Are program files and trust keys all contained in the data backup?
They are separate installation inputs in the documented restore process; retain the prepared package and trusted inputs.
Choose your software licence
One installation, a clear router allowance, and perpetual use of the purchased version. Setup assistance, hosting and external services are separate.
