Installing LinkDesk on Linux

A Linux host can run the application and, where required, related services. Decide which components belong on that host and who will maintain them. A server with no documented restart or backup procedure is not a complete deployment.

Prepare the application environment

Use the supplied Linux installation instructions with Python 3.11 or later and the required virtual-environment and package tools. The release includes Install-Linux.sh. Keep application data and private configuration under the intended operating account with appropriate access restrictions.

Check the services separately

The billing application, public customer endpoint and RADIUS bridge have different roles. FreeRADIUS itself is a separate daemon. Start only the components required by your installation and verify their individual paths before calling the complete setup ready.

• Record the application release and data location.
• Verify the authorised route to each managed router.
• Test restart behaviour for every required component.

Protect operator access

Use the supported private administration arrangement. A remote server does not make it appropriate to publish the local admin listener to the internet. Document how an authorised technician connects and how that access is removed when their work ends.

Test recovery before dependence

Create and inspect an encrypted backup, then practise restoration in a controlled destination. Record the separately required program files and trust keys. The operator should be able to identify what is restored from the backup and what must come from the prepared installation package.
