WayaDesk / PPPoE and renewals
Home-internet billing usually involves an ongoing subscriber relationship rather than a disposable access pass. The operator needs to preserve identity, payment history, service periods and the connection policy applied to the subscriber’s equipment.
Start with the subscriber lifecycle
Define how a new account begins, how it renews, what happens after expiry and how a suspended account differs from an unpaid one. LinkDesk includes local PPPoE and a separate FreeRADIUS integration path. Choose the path that matches the network instead of assuming that every control behaves identically in both.
Make monthly promises testable
Customers should know the service boundary and how early payment affects their existing time. A package change may be scheduled for a later paid period. Keep the purchased package snapshot visible so an account is not silently changed when the public price list is edited.
- Demonstrate initial authentication and a renewal.
- Observe expiry and the result of a later payment.
- Test the actual customer-premises equipment used by the pilot household.
Keep the limits accurate
Current LinkDesk data caps are not implemented as PPPoE quotas. Strict global simultaneous-session enforcement for RADIUS PPPoE is also outside the documented scope. If either is essential to your business, resolve that requirement before purchasing or promising a package to customers.
Plan the handover
Record the subscriber identifiers and credential-handling process privately. Staff should know how to diagnose authentication separately from upstream connectivity. A successful PPPoE login and a working internet connection are related but different acceptance observations.

Frequently asked questions
Can the same pilot cover local and RADIUS PPPoE?
Each path needs its own checks because it depends on different services and controls.
Does PPPoE support imply an enforced data quota?
No. The current LinkDesk quota support is for supported local Hotspot vouchers.
