Choose a router allowance by counting the devices the installation will manage. Do not substitute the number of customers, access points or staff users without confirming what the seller counts as a licensed managed router.

Map the current deployment

List the relevant MikroTik devices and their role. A network may contain equipment that provides radio coverage without being the billing application’s managed access router. Resolve that distinction in the quote rather than buying a larger tier from a rough device count.

Allow for a real expansion plan

If another site is already scheduled, discuss how the allowance can be increased. Do not pay for hypothetical growth solely because a larger tier sounds more professional. The licence packages differ in router allowance while keeping the same core software features.

• Record the managed devices for the first installation.
• Ask how an allowance change is licensed and priced.
• Keep host-capacity testing separate from the commercial tier.

Check the installation boundary

Each licence package covers one licensed installation. That is different from an unrestricted right to operate independent copies on several hosts. If the business needs separate controllers, describe that arrangement before purchase.

Avoid a capacity shortcut

A ten-router allowance does not promise a tested subscriber count or a particular traffic rate. Measure the actual workload, router capabilities and host behaviour. Buy the permission your design needs, and verify the performance your customers will rely on.
