WayaDesk / M-Pesa payments
A failed purchase should leave a clear outcome. The customer needs to know whether money was confirmed, whether access was granted and what to do next. Staff should not convert an uncertain attempt into a paid record merely to remove a pending label.
Establish what failed
Separate a request that was never completed from a provider-confirmed failure and from a successful payment whose access action failed. Those situations may look similar on a phone, but their operating responses are different.
Resolve before retrying
Locate the attempt and review the available provider evidence. If no completed payment is confirmed, explain the appropriate next purchase step. If payment is confirmed elsewhere but the application remains unresolved, investigate reconciliation rather than assuming cancellation.
- Keep unsuccessful attempts distinguishable from recorded revenue.
- Confirm that failed attempts do not grant a paid package.
- Avoid overwriting a genuine success with a later unrelated failure.
Test a controlled cancellation
Use an agreed pilot scenario in which the purchase does not complete. Check the application record, the subscriber’s entitlement and the router state. The success criterion is that the customer does not receive an unintended paid period and the operator can understand the outcome.
Support the next attempt
If the customer chooses to try again, help them identify the new purchase record while retaining the original history. A clear sequence is valuable when someone later asks why two prompts appeared or which attempt led to the receipt they received.
Frequently asked questions
Should a failed attempt appear as collected revenue?
No. Revenue reports should distinguish confirmed payments from attempts that did not complete.
What if the customer says money was deducted?
Check merchant evidence and the matching reference before deciding the attempt failed or asking for another payment.
