Wireless internet service providers need billing records that follow the subscriber, not just the radio equipment. WayaDesk supplies LinkDesk for supported MikroTik subscriber and Hotspot workflows. Wireless coverage, backhaul design and customer signal quality remain network engineering responsibilities.
Map billing gateways and wireless links
List the MikroTik devices that actually authenticate or enforce subscriber access. Also list radios, switches and access points used to transport traffic. These roles may share equipment, but they should not be assumed to do so. A licence router allowance is a managed-gateway limit, not a promise about the number of wireless links or homes the network can serve.
Choose persistent accounts or short passes
Home subscribers often renew an ongoing account using local PPPoE or the supported FreeRADIUS path. Walk-up public WiFi customers may buy Hotspot access instead. Match the package and renewal model to the service. Keep persistent usernames and previously paid time intact when moving records into the billing installation.
Keep service evidence distinct
A billing account can be paid while a radio path is degraded. Record which gateway serves the customer and investigate account dates, authentication and link health independently. Payment records cannot determine antenna alignment, interference or upstream availability. Support needs a way to identify the affected site without exposing customer credentials.
Prepare for outages
Plan power for the controller and gateways, private management access and a backup destination. Rehearse restarting the host and restoring records without creating duplicate renewals. Test expiry enforcement on the intended MikroTik configuration. Start with a few consenting pilot accounts before replacing the live billing workflow.
Questions before buying
Does LinkDesk configure customer radios?
It does not replace radio planning or remotely configure customer equipment as part of the software licence.
Can a wireless link count as a billed customer?
Transport links and subscriber accounts serve different roles. Document the actual access topology before licensing.
