WayaDesk / Installation and migration
Staff may need to work from another computer, but public access to customer checkout does not mean administration should be publicly reachable. Treat the two surfaces separately when designing remote work.
Use the documented private route
LinkDesk keeps administration on a loopback listener. Its operating guidance calls for an authenticated tunnel or another operator-managed secure access arrangement for staff on other computers. Do not publish the admin port simply to make a remote login easier.
Match access to responsibility
The application distinguishes owner, cashier and technician roles. Use a separate account for each authorised worker and verify the controls they can use. Sharing the owner password prevents the business from maintaining a clear record of who performed an action.
- Identify the specific tasks each remote worker needs.
- Test role restrictions through the actual access arrangement.
- Remove or change access when the working relationship ends.
Plan for a disconnected session
A staff member losing their remote connection does not necessarily stop the application host. Check the host and worker state before restarting services or repeating payment actions. The administration browser is only one component of the installation.
Document the support boundary
If a technician manages the tunnel or remote-access service, include that responsibility in the quote. The software licence does not automatically supply or maintain a complete remote-access product. Keep recovery instructions available to the owner through a private handover.
Frequently asked questions
Should every worker use the owner account?
No. Separate accounts and appropriate roles support accountability and narrower permissions.
Does a lost admin browser connection mean billing stopped?
Not necessarily. Check the application host and worker before assuming the service is down.
Choose your software licence
One installation, a clear router allowance, and perpetual use of the purchased version. Setup assistance, hosting and external services are separate.
