WayaDesk / FreeRADIUS
Authentication infrastructure should be reachable by the components that need it and maintained by authorised people. Installing a service is only the first step; the operator also needs a clear access and credential-management arrangement.
Document the intended path
Identify the routers, bridge, daemon and host involved in the deployment. Ask the installer to describe the required connections and the access restrictions around them. Avoid broad public exposure merely because a component is temporarily difficult to reach.
Treat secrets as operational assets
Keep shared secrets, administrative passwords and subscriber credentials out of public setup notes. Record who can retrieve or change them and how access is removed when a technician leaves. The public marketing website should never contain the credentials used by the live network.
- Use a private handover for sensitive configuration.
- Retain a non-secret inventory of components and responsible people.
- Include credential changes in the change record and retest authentication.
Plan maintenance without losing context
Before changing a host or service configuration, preserve the information needed for rollback and recovery. After the change, verify both valid and invalid authentication outcomes. A repair that allows every request is not a successful restoration of policy.
Fit the team you have
An operator who does not maintain Linux services may need a separately quoted support arrangement. Make that responsibility explicit before deploying a path that depends on FreeRADIUS. A licence price alone does not pay for ongoing service administration.
Frequently asked questions
Should RADIUS secrets be included in a public support screenshot?
No. Share only the non-secret evidence needed to diagnose the issue.
Who maintains the separate daemon?
The operator or the contracted installer must agree that responsibility; it is not automatically included with the software licence.
Choose your software licence
One installation, a clear router allowance, and perpetual use of the purchased version. Setup assistance, hosting and external services are separate.
