WayaDesk / PPPoE and renewals
Subscriber records and equipment records solve different problems. One describes the service a customer bought; the other helps a technician identify the device and network path that should deliver it. Keeping the two connected makes fault reports much easier to resolve.
Record useful installation facts
Keep the subscriber identifier, service location, equipment identifier and the relevant router or access path in the operator’s private records. Record who installed the device and where the configuration backup is kept. This is an operating practice, not a claim that the billing application includes a full asset-management module.
Protect credentials during handover
Persistent subscriber credentials should be available only to authorised roles. LinkDesk’s owner permissions differ from technician and cashier permissions. A public customer portal or ordinary sales enquiry is not an appropriate place to expose network passwords.
- Confirm which device is involved before changing account settings.
- Update the operating record when equipment is replaced.
- Remove access granted to a departing technician through the supported process.
Diagnose a replacement device
When a customer changes equipment, verify the intended credentials, authentication path and relevant single-session policy. A replacement that fails to connect does not necessarily mean the subscriber needs a new paid period. Check the existing entitlement before changing billing.
Keep assumptions visible
Device counts, household users and active sessions are different measurements. Avoid treating a single-session rule as proof of how many people use a home connection. Capacity and service policy should be agreed using the actual network arrangement.
Frequently asked questions
Does this mean LinkDesk includes a complete equipment inventory module?
No. These are operating records the installer should maintain alongside the billing workflow.
Should replacing a home router create another subscription charge?
Check the existing entitlement first. Equipment replacement and purchasing another service period are separate matters.
Choose your software licence
One installation, a clear router allowance, and perpetual use of the purchased version. Setup assistance, hosting and external services are separate.
