How Customers Buy WiFi with M-Pesa: LinkDesk Workflow

For a paid WiFi customer, buying a package should be understandable from the first screen to the final access result. LinkDesk supports internet payment and entitlement workflows in a configured operator deployment. This journey is separate from buying the LinkDesk software licence on WayaDesk.

1. Choose a clear package

Present the price, duration and enforced limits before requesting payment. The customer needs to recognise the service they are buying and the network on which it will work. Test the package page from an unauthenticated phone using the intended guest path, including DNS and HTTPS reachability.

2. Approve the payment on the phone

The customer supplies the required phone details and approves the M-Pesa request on their own device. A merchant integration must be configured for that operator. The customer should never type an M-Pesa PIN into a website form. Starting the prompt establishes a request, not a completed payment.

3. Wait for verified status

The system must associate the provider outcome with the correct order and account. Show pending, failed and confirmed outcomes accurately. If the result is uncertain, investigate the original transaction before initiating another charge. For an existing subscriber, a successful renewal should preserve the intended identity and paid period.

4. Confirm access and expiry

After payment confirmation, inspect the supported access action and actual customer browsing. A disconnected gateway can delay access even when the money arrived. Test expiry and subsequent renewal as part of the same pilot. Keep a support route available for the customer without displaying administrator credentials or private merchant settings.

Questions before buying

Does approved payment always mean immediate browsing?

No. Payment verification and the network access result are separate checks.

Has this journey been proven on every router?

No. The intended subscriber deployment must pass its own acceptance tests.

Software price and delivery

Current one-off licences are KSh 4,900 for 2 managed routers, KSh 9,900 for 5 and KSh 17,900 for 10, on one installation. The amount displayed at M-Pesa checkout applies to your purchase. Verified payment reveals the product key and prepared installer on your private order page. Hardware, hosting, messaging and separately quoted assistance are external costs.

Choose your software licence

One installation, a clear router allowance, and perpetual use of the purchased version. Setup assistance, hosting and external services are separate.
