WayaDesk / FreeRADIUS
An operator may want to prevent credentials being used on multiple connections. That requirement needs a clearly defined enforcement scope: one router, one service instance or the complete network. These are not equivalent promises.
Check the current implementation
LinkDesk does not currently provide strict global simultaneous-session enforcement for RADIUS PPPoE. The existence of a session list or an accounting feed should not be advertised as proof that a second login will always be blocked across routers.
Describe the business requirement
Write down what counts as an additional connection and what should happen after an abrupt disconnect. Include the desired behaviour when accounting is stale or a router is unreachable. A support procedure for duplicate credentials is useful, but it is not the same as a tested automatic enforcement mechanism.
- Identify every router involved in the proposed rule.
- Test the second-login case on the actual deployment.
- Record stale-session and outage behaviour separately.
Explain the limitation before purchase
If strict network-wide control is mandatory, make it an explicit acceptance condition. Do not discover after migration that a feature demonstration covered only one local access path. The current limitation belongs in the buying decision and package wording.
Keep customer management separate
A suspected duplicate session is not automatically evidence of non-payment. Verify identity, entitlement and observations before taking action. Owner suspension and network troubleshooting should remain attributable actions with a clear reason.
Frequently asked questions
Does LinkDesk promise global RADIUS PPPoE single-session enforcement?
No. That capability is outside the documented current scope.
Is seeing two records enough to suspend a customer?
Review their freshness, identity and actual connection evidence before making a service decision.
Choose your software licence
One installation, a clear router allowance, and perpetual use of the purchased version. Setup assistance, hosting and external services are separate.
