An access point can distribute WiFi while a MikroTik gateway controls paid access. That distinction matters when you already own TP-Link, Tenda or other WiFi equipment. LinkDesk integration with a supported gateway does not establish direct management support for every access-point brand.
Identify each device’s role
An access point commonly bridges customer traffic to the gateway. A device sold as a WiFi router may instead perform routing, NAT or address assignment. Document which role it has in your installation. Extra routing between the customer and the Hotspot gateway can change what the gateway observes, so inspect the topology before assuming per-customer enforcement works.
Count managed gateways accurately
A licence allowance applies to the supported routers managed by the LinkDesk installation. Do not count every antenna or switch automatically as a managed router, and do not assume many independent gateways fit a smaller plan. Provide the topology and gateway list when choosing an allowance. Hardware throughput is a separate measurement.
Test the path from each WiFi area
Join as a guest through each intended access point and verify the package page, payment flow, access and expiry. Check whether the same customer identity reaches the enforcement gateway as expected. Include the weaker coverage areas in a physical network assessment; billing software cannot improve radio reception.
Keep configuration responsibilities clear
Review bridge, VLAN and DHCP design with the person managing your network before changing live equipment. This guide is an architectural explanation, not a universal configuration script for third-party access points. MikroTik’s official access-point guide explains the gateway-versus-bridge distinction; apply vendor-specific instructions to your actual equipment.

Questions before buying
Does LinkDesk configure my TP-Link or Tenda directly?
Direct configuration of those devices is not established by the current software scope.
Does one WiFi network always mean one licence router?
No. Count the gateways actually managed by the installation, based on the real topology.
Software price and delivery
Current one-off licences are KSh 4,900 for 2 managed routers, KSh 9,900 for 5 and KSh 17,900 for 10, on one installation. The amount displayed at M-Pesa checkout applies to your purchase. Verified payment reveals the product key and prepared installer on your private order page. Hardware, hosting, messaging and separately quoted assistance are external costs.
Choose your software licence
One installation, a clear router allowance, and perpetual use of the purchased version. Setup assistance, hosting and external services are separate.
