A startup budget should show what must be purchased now and what will continue costing money after the first sale. Software is one line in that budget, not the complete hotspot installation.

Separate the cost groups

List routers and access equipment, cabling and installation, the application host, power arrangements and recovery storage. Then list recurring internet, hosting, payment, messaging and support costs. Use actual quotes for the intended site rather than copying another operator’s equipment total.

Include the software scope accurately

WayaDesk’s Starter licence is KSh 4,900 for up to two managed routers on one installation. Installation instructions are included, while hands-on setup and ongoing support are separately quoted. Confirm the final total and terms before treating it as a committed project expense.

• Identify equipment already owned and verify its suitability.
• Record who maintains each recurring service.
• Keep money available for the agreed pilot and corrective work.

Avoid a false cheap start

An unsuitable host or incomplete coverage can create repeated support costs. A low licence price cannot compensate for equipment that fails the actual service test. Decide the smallest useful deployment by its verified service area and workload, not by omitting necessary components.

Review after the pilot

Replace assumptions with observed demand and operating effort. Record what the first installation really cost and which items will be reused for another site. This turns the budget into a decision tool instead of a promise that a particular investment guarantees income.
