Planning Network Access for a Billing Installation

WayaDesk / Installation and migration

A deployment has several traffic paths: staff administration, customer checkout, provider communication and router management. Writing them down helps an installer enable what is required without opening unrelated services.

Build a connection inventory

For each workflow, identify the source, destination, purpose and responsible administrator. Keep the customer payment page separate from private control interfaces. If the installation uses a RADIUS service, include its specific router and bridge paths in the inventory.

Test the intended boundary

Verify both that the required route works and that an unrelated public visitor cannot reach private administration. Avoid using a broad access exception as a permanent answer to a difficult connection problem. The final design should be understandable to the next technician.

  • Record required hostnames and services without disclosing secrets.
  • Test from the actual source network, not only the host itself.
  • Retest after moving a host, router or public endpoint.

Keep business workflows observable

When payment succeeds but access fails, the connection inventory helps locate the missing path. Without it, staff may repeatedly resend payments or change customer accounts while the real issue is a blocked or unavailable route.

Preserve the configuration record

Save a private copy of the accepted network design and change history. This page is a planning guide, not a universal firewall command list: the correct rules depend on your equipment, deployment and required services. Have the installer verify the exact arrangement before production use.

Frequently asked questions

Can one generic firewall script fit every deployment?

No. The required paths depend on where the components run and how the network is arranged.

Should troubleshooting end after opening a broad exception?

No. Confirm the narrow intended access and document the final working arrangement.

Choose your software licence

One installation, a clear router allowance, and perpetual use of the purchased version. Setup assistance, hosting and external services are separate.
