The billing host must reach the intended router through an authorised management path. A router appearing in a list is not proof that the application can inspect it or apply the required access changes.

Confirm identity and reachability

Use the guided connection checks and verify the router identity and time returned. This helps avoid managing the wrong device when several routers have similar names. Record the actual access method and the private configuration used by the installer.

Separate read checks from changes

LinkDesk’s readiness checks include read-only router observations. They are useful evidence of part of the connection, but they do not replace a controlled test that creates or updates the intended customer access. Both should be in the acceptance record.

• Check the host-to-router path from the application environment.
• Confirm the router identity rather than relying only on an entered label.
• Observe a small authorised access action and its resulting state.

Diagnose unavailable equipment

If the router cannot be reached, inspect the network path and host before repeatedly changing customer records. A shared connectivity failure can affect many customers even when their payments and entitlements are correct.

Protect the configuration

Keep management credentials private and limit access to authorised people. The public website should explain requirements without publishing live endpoints or passwords. Include connection recovery in the operator handover so a future technician can distinguish a router-path problem from a payment issue.
