WayaDesk / Software and buying
Before installing LinkDesk, check the entire operating path. The application, router, merchant integration and customer checkout have different requirements. Meeting one requirement, such as having a Windows laptop, does not demonstrate that the complete service is ready.
Application and host
The current package uses Python 3.11 or later on Windows or Linux. It is distributed as an installation package, not a native signed Windows EXE. The host should remain available while its background workflows are needed, with protected storage and a recovery plan appropriate to the business.
Network and external services
You need compatible MikroTik equipment and an authorised way for the application to reach it. Public customer checkout requires an HTTPS address and the associated deployment work. M-Pesa and SMS need the operator’s own configured provider accounts; their credentials and charges are not supplied by the software licence.
- Document the installed RouterOS version and required access method.
- Check whether FreeRADIUS is required; its Linux service is separate.
- Confirm who controls the domain, host, router and merchant account.
Avoid unsupported capacity assumptions
A licence that permits ten routers is not a promise that any ten-router network will run on a low-powered laptop. Customer activity, accounting volume, network conditions and hardware all influence the installation. Measure representative load during the pilot instead of relying on an untested customer-count claim.
Prepare a recovery path
Have a backup destination, a protected passphrase and a way to reinstall the application. Test startup after a restart. The minimum useful specification is the one that keeps your actual pilot workload operating and can be restored when the original host is unavailable.
Frequently asked questions
Does the package include a router or hosting?
No. Hardware, hosting, domains and merchant or SMS services are separate requirements.
Does FreeRADIUS run automatically when I install LinkDesk?
No. The bridge and the separate FreeRADIUS service need their own configuration and live authentication test.
Choose your software licence
One installation, a clear router allowance, and perpetual use of the purchased version. Setup assistance, hosting and external services are separate.
